For the first time since serving as the nation’s First Lady, Michelle Obama will soon step back into the public eye.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Obama will appear on the fifth season of MasterChef Junior later on this month. The cooking television series, which began its new season on FOX last week, consists of children between the ages of 8-13 who compete for a $100,000 prize.
As the show replaces Chef Graham Elliot, various guest appearances will join throughout the season. In addition to Obama, other notable guest judges will include Martha Stewart and The Muppets.

During her tenure in the White House, Obama has been a diligent advocate for healthy eating through her initiative Let’s Move!, which launched in 2010. Another one of her notable achievements in this area was the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, which “for the first time in over 30 years” made reforms to the “school lunch and breakfast programs by improving the critical nutrition and hunger safety net for millions of children.”
“We can’t lie around on the couch eating French fries and candy bars and expect our kids to eat carrots and run around the block,” Obama said in 2013 keynote address. “But too often, that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
As much as we miss Michelle as our First Lady, we’ll have to accept whatever glimpse of her we can get for now.
MasterChef Junior airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on FOX.
