PHOTOS: 25 Reasons Michelle Obama Runs the World
Mrs. O’s book follows the success of her “Let’s Move” campaign, which was her first foray into urging Americans to take better care of their bodies. In the book, Obama describes her plan to use the White House garden as a way to make the connection between the quality of our food and the health of our children.
“It is definitely a passion — getting our kids in this country eating healthy, helping families make good choices about how they eat and stay active — and this book is a way to talk about our journey but also talk about the challenges that we face as a nation around health,” Obama told ABC’s Robin Roberts on Good Morning America.

Readers of “American Grown” will find recipes from White House chefs, tips for planting a garden, and photos of the first lady with children, vegetables and the family’s dog, Bo. All proceeds of the book will go to the National Park Foundation for programs that promote healthy eating and gardening and for the continued care of the White House garden.
