Michelle Obama has shared the cover for her upcoming book, Becoming.
The former first lady announced back in February that her memoir would be released in November, sharing, “Writing Becoming has been a deeply personal experience. It has allowed me, for the very first time, the space to honestly reflect on the unexpected trajectory of my life. In this book, I talk about my roots and how a little girl from the South Side of Chicago found her voice and developed the strength to use it to empower others. I hope my journey inspires readers to find the courage to become whoever they aspire to be. I can’t wait to share my story.”
On Thursday, Obama took to Instagram to finally reveal the cover of the highly-anticipated new book, adding that writing Becoming was a “meaningful and illuminating” journey.
“I’m thrilled to share with all of you the cover for BECOMING,” she wrote. “The process of writing this book has been so personally meaningful and illuminating for me. As I prepare to share BECOMING this fall, I hope you’ll also think about your own story, and trust that it will help you become whoever you aspire to be. Your story is what you have, what you will always have. It is something to own.”
The reveal comes after a recent announcement that the former first lady and her husband, former president Barack Obama, have signed a storytelling deal with Netflix. The couple will “produce a diverse mix of content” including scripted shows, unscripted shows, documentaries, and features.
Obama’s upcoming memoir will be published in 24 languages and is set for release on Nov. 13.
