Chicago based designer Maria Pinto was thrust into the spotlight when First Lady Michelle Obama wore several of her brightly colored sheath dresses during the election campaign. The new darling of the fashion world shared a few of her tricks for dressing for success to the Wall Street Journal. When shopping for clothes Pinto warns that you should not be obsessed with the label size. “Don’t buy something just because it’s what you think your size is or should be-just make sure whatever you’re trying on fits you right,” says Pinto, who is partial to coral and chartreuse green colors for spring. The designer also recommends having the shoes and under garments you plan to wear with you when you’re shopping, so you’re guaranteed to get the look you want once you leave the store.-QS
