Former First Lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to headline two voter registration rallies in September in Miami, Fl., and Las Vegas, to encourage people to get out and vote. On Wednesday, When We All Vote, a nonpartisan organization Obama co-chairs, announced the voter registration rallies and referred to September 22-29 as a week of action. Obama, along with several celebrity co-chairs that include Lin Manuel, Tom Hanks and Janelle Monae, announced the form of the organization in July. Their goal is to register as many people as possible to vote in the November elections. The Las Vegas event will be held on Sept. 23 and the Miami rally on Sept. 28, according to the Associated Press. During a call in July, Obama reiterated the importance of voting. “Voting is the only way to ensure that our values and priorities are represented in the halls of power. And it’s not enough to just vote for president every four years,” she said. Whether it’s on the state or local level, voting is necessary to effect change. And although Obama has hushed rumors about a possible run for president in 2020, she’s still hitting the pavement to emphasize the importance of voting.
