Former boxing legend Mike Tyson is crying out for help.
Over the last several months, Tyson touted his sobriety from drugs and alcohol. According to his latest interview with the Fight Network, he’s been lying about his progress.
On Friday, Tyson admitted to his ongoing substance abuse battle during a short press conference. During that time, Tyson said he had only been clean from drugs and alcohol for less than a week.
“I want to change my life,” said Tyson. “I want to live a different life now. I want to live my sober life. I don’t want to die. I’m on the verge of dying because I’m a vicious alcoholic.”
Nearly brought to tears, Tyson elaborated about his addiction. “I haven’t drank or took drugs in six days, and for me that’s a miracle. I’ve been lying to everybody else who thinks I was sober, but I’m not. This is my sixth day. I’m never going to use again.”
The last several years have been filled with ups and downs for Tyson. In May 2009, his four-year-old daughter died from an accident at home. Days later, Tyson wed his longtime girlfriend Lakiha Spicer.
