These Are The 10 Top Jobs In America

This week 800,000 federal workers missed their second paycheck and one in 10 TSA workers have begun calling in sick. Needless to say, the government shutdown is real and surely those who’ve ever considered a career as a federal worker are rethinking that option. (Goodluck recruiters!) Though, as the job market ebbs and flows and the gig economy expands, many of us are left asking: What fields should we consider? What jobs offer the most stability further down the road? What industries should I avoid?  On Wednesday, employer review website Glassdoor released their annual 50 best jobs report and we couldn’t help but notice jobs in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields made up the majority the roundup. Data Scientist topped the list for the fourth year in a row, though the base salary, $108,000, dropped by nearly $9,000. In addition to the tech space, jobs in the healthcare industry also held down a noticeable number of spots, which makes sense as the baby boomer generation ages. The majority of the careers do require some form of higher education and training, however, some careers among the 50 only require a high school diploma. Glassdoor ranked the selections according to earning potential, satisfaction ranking, and the number of job openings. Check out the top 10 below and the additional 40 after the jump!
