Will the Monica and Brandy ever patch things up?
The two have been on and off for years following the release of their duet and hit single “The Boy is Mine” in 1998. In a recent appearance on The Real, Monica recently addressed what appears to be a beef, responding to Brandy’s reaction to the #SoGoneChallenge, the freestyle social media revival remix of one of Monica’s hits songs.
A fan had asked Brandy if she would participate the #SoGoneChallenge, to which Brandy replied, “chile bye.”
Monica didn’t seem phased, stating, ““I’ll tell you on the real, I’m not bothered at all. Honestly, the old me and the new me are two different things. This journey of self-progression and self-love and empowerment that I’m on, I can’t go backward. I think that was just a test from God for me.”

She went on to praise Brandy’s talents, admitting that the two of them made a great duo, and vocalized being open to the idea of collaborating with Brandy again.
“I would work with her again,” Monica asserts. “It’s never been an easy situation, but the reason I would do it is because we are from a special elite group. It was her, Aaliyah, and myself. It was a very special time where each of us was individuals. We did our own thing, and we all made our mark. And the truth and reality of it is, the only Grammy either of us has is together. So yeah, I absolutely would.”
Brandy, however, may not share the same sentiments. Following the airing of Monica’s appearance, Brandy posted a photo of herself with the cryptic hashtag #IKnowTHEREALStoryThatEverybodyDoesntKnow.
We’re not sure what’s going on, but we hope two of our favorites can make amends.
