Former NBA All-Star guard Daron “Mookie” Blaylock, 46, was involved in a fatal car accident in Jonesborough, Georgia, on Friday night when his SUV crossed the center lines and slammed head-on into a van.
The van’s passenger, 43-year-old Monica Murphy, was pronounced dead from internal bleeding, while Blaylock was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center. He is in serious condition, according to the Associated Press. Murphy’s husband, Frankie Murphy, 41, suffered a broken ankle.
WSB-TV in Atlanta reported that Blaylock, who played for the Atlanta Hawks from 1992-1999, has a “history of seizures.” Police are currently investigating to find out whether his health issues were the cause of the accident.
