Journalist Joy Reid continues to make major moves at MSNBC, with her show AM Joy overtaking CNN in the quarterly ratings for the first time since its launched almost two years ago.
According to The Wrap, this is the first time MSNBC has beaten CNN in the Saturday 10 a.m.-noon time slot among the aged 25-54 demographic in almost 16 years. Reid’s audience has jumped 33 percent since the same quarter last year, and 27 percent with the aged 25-54 demographic in the same period.
Despite her jump, Reid still trails behind Fox News, which is the overall weekend winner in that time slot in both total viewers and demographic ratings.
Reid, however, continues to be critical of Fox News, telling The Wrap that the rival network vilifies activists of the Black Lives Matter movement.
“[Fox News’] purpose is to reframe the news from the perspective of white conservatives. It’s not really a neutral arbiter,” she said. “It’s there really to do constituent services for white conservative Republicans.”
Congratulations Joy Reid!
