Hundreds of fans remembered Don Cornelius by sashaying down a “Soul Train” line in Times Square, New York City. Wearing afro wigs and bell bottoms, fans can be seen taking turns showing off their best dance moves as the crowd cheers on.
“Don Cornelius was a big influence in my life, and I just wanted to pay tribute,” DJ Jon Quick told the Associated Press. Quick and a group of fellow “Soul Train” lovers organized the flash mob, which they announced on Facebook.
Cornelius died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound this past week. He was remembered by Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin who credited him with creating “a solid and broad foundation for young adults and adults alike to socialize, dance and have good clean fun.”
