Barbara Walters sat down with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for their first interview together since the President won re-election in November. And in regular Walters fashion, no question was off-limits— she even asked the Obamas how they “keep the fire going” in their marriage.
“We’ve been married now 20 years, and like every marriage, I think you have your ups and your downs,” President Obama said. “But if you work through the tough times, the respect and love that you feel deepens.”
The First Couple also spoke about the famous image of them embracing that became the most-retweeted photo of all time. “I hadn’t seen him in a while,” the First Lady said. “And the first time I saw him was when I walked onstage to greet him.”
“I love giving you hugs,” the President responded, smiling at her.
The full interview aired last night on ABC’s Nightline, but if you missed it, check out the sentimental moment between the President and First Lady above.
