For the first time since Whitney Houston’s passing, the Houston family is ready to share their story. In this short clip released by OWN, Patricia Houston, sister-in-law of Whitney, says, “The handwriting was on the wall. I would be kidding myself to say otherwise,” when asked whether or not she ever imagined Whitney would die of a drug related death.
Whitney’s substance abuse is only part of what will be discussed in Oprah’s much-anticipated exclusive sit-down with other members of the Houston family. Bobbi Kristina, who remained quiet at her mother’s home-going service and has not spoken to the press, shares intimate memories about her mother with Oprah during the interview.
The Houston family has been quite private concerning Whitney’s sudden death on February 11, 2012. Cissy Houston allowed media sources to live broadcast from inside Houston’s home-going service on February 18th, but the family had not spoken out publicly. Oprah’s interview with the family will be the first, and sources at OWN say it will address many of the “rumors and speculation surrounding Houston’s death.”
Tune into Oprah’s Next Chapter this Sunday, March 11, at 9pm EST. Prior to the interviews, OWN will also re-air Remembering Whitney: The Oprah Interview, which features Oprah interviewing Houston in 2009.
