Although the judges didn’t see eye-to-eye on their critique of Mya Harrison’s opening performance with partner Dmitry Chaplin, her fluid technique won over two of the judges and the audience.
Mya scored 21 points and graciously said that, despite the harsh critique, she “respected the professionals” and was here to learn.
Mya dazzled as she got live with the jive, which earned her the name “Mya the Magnificent.”
“This was the most fun I had and my favorite outfit,” Mya told ESSENCE.com. “It was nice invoking a little of Josephine Baker, and the wig was great too.”
The judges were so impressed that Mya and partner Dmitry Chaplin were chosen for an encore performance.
