Nelson Mandela’s health is steadily improving, reports CNN.
The former South African president was hospitalized last week for a recurring lung infection.
Mandela, 94, was treated for pneumonia over the weekend and had excess fluid removed from around his lungs, said presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj.
In December Mandela was hospitalized and treated for a lung infection and gallstones and was readmitted for a “routine checkup” in early March.
Maharaj reassured that Mandela is currently responding well to treatment.
