While Memorial Day festivities are officially over, it’s a subtle reminder that sunscreen season is here. Recently the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology stating that many women still aren’t wearing sunscreen on their face.
The findings reveal that only 43 percent of women “regularly use sunscreen on their face” and only 34 percent apply it on all exposed skin. And, 40 percent of men never put sunscreen on their faces (compared to 27 percent of women). What’s more, nearly 40% of users (both men and women) were unsure if their sunscreen provided broad-spectrum (which safeguards against UVA and UVB) protection.
Every year more than one million Americans are diagnosed with skin cancer, so be smart and protect yourself with sunscreen. Need help with info? Check out our helpful SPF tips.
