Former NFL star and NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp was arrested yesterday morning in Phoenix on two counts of assault and one count of soliticing prostitution, reports NFL.com. He is currently being held on $1,500 bond.
Phoenix police were called to Sapp’s hotel around 7 a.m. on Monday to investigate a noise disturbance. Once officers arrived at the hotel, a woman reported that she and another woman, both of whom admitted they were escorts, had been physically assaulted by Sapp, who was in town covering the Super Bowl.
They said they were summoned to Sapp’s room when a physical altercation broke out, allegedly over money. Police found marks on one woman indicative of an assault. Sapp was taken into police custody shortly after, where he admitted to the prostitution but denied the assault charges.
Yesterday afternoon, the NFL Network terminated Sapp’s contract. His court date is set for Monday afternoon.
