Nick Cannon Praises Mariah Carey for Her Help During Illness

Nick Cannon has a lot to be thankful for. Not only is he fortunate to have recovered from mild kidney failure for which he was hospitalized last week, but  the actor and comedian is perhaps most grateful for his wife, Mariah Carey, who he says was by his side every step of the way.

At the 2012 BET Honors this weekend, Cannon sang his wife’s praises as he presented her with the Entertainer Award.

“When times are hard, you guys don’t see her at 3 o’clock in the morning, getting up in the middle of the night, fixing me soup when my kidneys ain’t acting right. Mariah Carey does that,” Cannon said onstage.

The moment was made even more special as Cannon held the couple’s 8-month-old son Cannon, who was adorably outfitted in a matching mini tuxedo.

“It is truly, truly a blessing to be here tonight, and I am humbled and in awe of everyone’s presence, but mostly my hero right there,” Cannon continued as he looked as his wife seated in the front row.  “What most people don’t get the opportunity to experience is the true woman; the virtuous person who is my angel.”

After Carey was called to the stage, the teary-eyed songstress returned the adoration for her husband.

“To my incredible husband who [has been] out of the hospital two days — look at him all strong and healthy and big and too buff for the tux — it’s incredible,” she beamed.
