Nicki Minaj has apologized to the family of slain civil rights leader Malcolm X.
The apology comes a day after Minaj came under fire for using a 1964 photo of a rifle-wielding Malclolm X as the cover art for her latest song, “Lookin’ A— N*gga.”
“Do you have a problem with me referring to the people Malcolm X was ready to pull his gun out on as Lookin’ A— N*ggaz?” wrote Minaj on her Instagram page. “Well, I apologize.”

“I am in the video shooting at Lookin’ A— N*ggaz and there happened to be an iconic photo of Malcolm X ready to do the same thing for what he believed in!” she added. “It is in no way to undermine his efforts and legacy.”
