The mother of the girl who has accused Nicki Minaj’s brother of rape denied that she was trying to extort the pop star for up to $25 million, the New York Post reports.
Her testimony took place on Wednesday during Jelani Maraj’s trial for the alleged rape of his former step-daughter. Maraj’s lawyer insinuated that his ex-wife Jacqueline Maraj had told her daughter to make up the lies so she could seek a settlement from Minaj.
“No, that’s a lie,” she said in the Nassau Court. The now-divorced couple were married in August 2015.
It was reported that Minaj would testify that the victim’s mother attempted to extort her for millions. However, TMZ says that the rap star would not be involved in her brother’s case.
Earlier this week, the 10-year-old brother testified about the alleged rape of his then 11-year-old sister, sharing disturbing details of the things he saw.
“I thought it wasn’t right,“ the boy testified. “It looked weird to me, so I ran upstairs.”
