Ifeoma White-Thorpe just made headlines for being a top student on epic proportions.
The New Jersey high school senior got accepted to not one, but eight Ivy League schools — Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Dartmouth and Brown. Talk about Black Girl Magic!
“I was like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, like this might be eight out of eight and I clicked it and it said ‘Congratulations’ and I was like oh my goodness!” White-Thorpe told CNN affiliate WABC-TV.
She contends that her love of poetry and writing are what may have set her a part in her applications.
“I got into Harvard early action so I figured I’ll just go there, so then I got into all the others and I was like, wait now I don’t know where I want to go,” Ifeoma said.

She applied to the schools because they all have “great research facilities” perfect for her interest in biology. Eventually, she hopes to pursue a career in global health. No word on which one she plans to attend, but whichever way she goes, we have a feeling she’ll be successful in her studies.
“At this point none of the schools I’ve applied to said they give merit scholarships, so I’m praying that they give me some more financial aid or some money,” she said. “Shout out to all of those schools, please give me something.”
