A North Carolina gun shop is under scrutiny after putting up a billboard calling the four Democratic congresswomen known as “The Squad” idiots and likening them to the “four horsemen” of the apocalypse.”
According to The Hill, Cherokee Guns in Murphy used pictures of Reps. Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), Rashida Tlaib (Mich) and Ayanna Pressley (Mass) in the billboard that quipped “The 4 Horsemen Cometh are Idiots.”
“Signed the Deplorables” the billboard added, before advertising “Cherokee Guns, 1 Mile On Right.”
The billboard was blasted on Monday by nonprofit Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, who called it “dangerous” in a Facebook post, the Hill notes.
“Disgusting anti-government violent rhetoric from Cherokee Guns in North Carolina,” the post read. “Threats against members of Congress, particularly minority members are [rising] and it is driven by the president’s racial rhetoric.”
However, Cherokee Guns remained unbothered, saying in their own Facebook post that they will be coming out with sticker replicating the billboard.
“Alright my fellow Infidels for Trump…due to OVERWHELMING demand…you may come by the shop (next week) and get your very own FOUR HORSEMEN COMETH STICKER” the shop said. “Simple…eat a piece of bacon…tell us you’re voting for Trump in 2020…then get your limited edition bumper sticker!!, (While supplies last!) Snowflakes and Liberals are not eligible…sorry…”
The billboard is just yet another attack on the four congresswomen of color that has come since President Donald Trump launched his own targeted attack telling them to “go back” to the “crime-infested places” that they come from—never mind that three of the congresswomen were born in the United States and all of them are American. Omar is a former refugee who became a naturalized citizen as a teenager.
That particular rhetoric led to one of Trump’s hate-filled rallies being marked by his supporters chanting “send her back” in reference to Omar.
