President Obama recently visited Alabama to comfort families whose homes were destroyed by violent tornadoes in the Southeast. After spending almost two hours surveying damage and speaking with residents, he pledged to help the state rebuild its storm-torn communities any way possible.
“I’ve never seen devastation like this. It is heart-breaking,” President Obama said during his visit to Tuscaloosa where he met with Mayor Walter Maddox and FEMA coordinator Craig Fugate to discuss damages.
“I want to just make a commitment to the communities here that we are going to do everything we can to help these communities rebuild,” Obama said, “property damage, which is obviously extensive, that’s something that we can do something about.”
So far 211 tornadoes have been reported from New York to Mississippi – our hearts and prayers go out to any families affected by these devastating storms.
