Oprah Winfrey may be known as the queen of daytime TV, but it looks like the media mogul is now stepping outside of her realm: She’s exploring new ventures in the food business!
The New York Post reports the OWN CEO filed several online applications to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Organization for “Oprah Organics” last month. According to reports, the organic product line is set to include an array of food and cosmetics — including hair products, bath soaps, sunscreen, massage oils, salad dressings, frozen vegetables, soups, beverages and snack dips.
The trademark requests also included “Oprah’s Harvest” and “Oprah’s Farm,” a beverage and catering service.
There is no news yet of when the product line is scheduled to hit stores, but, according to a Winfrey representative, she plans to distribute produce from “Oprah’s Farm” across Hawaii. In a statement, the representative told the New York Post: “The trademarks were filed for Oprah’s farm on Maui to enable the farm to grow and distribute produce on Maui and throughout the Hawaiian Islands.”
Oprah topped the Forbes’ list of highest-paid celebrities this year, earning an estimated $165 million. With the success of OWN, her upcoming movie The Butler and “Oprah Organics,” it looks like she may be on her way to claiming the No. 1 spot next year as well.
