Oprah Winfrey Helps In Battle Against Childhood Obesity
Oprah Winfrey and her former personal chef Art Smith are helping to fulfill First Lady Michelle Obama's wishes to curb childhood obesity. Recently Oprah gifted Smith with a $250,000 birthday check to go towards his Common Threads nonprofit, which runs afterschool programs around the country that teach children about healthy eating. "I'd like to take this money to create healthy programs for children that mirror the first lady's program," Smith tells the Associated Press.
