Can you think of anyone more deserving of an award for excellence? Oprah Winfrey, the undisputed queen of daytime, received a Minerva Award on the third day of Maria Shriver’s Women’s Conference in Long Beach, which honors outstanding women. Always deflecting the attention from herself, Winfrey gave it up to Shriver for her role as the First Lady of California. Winfrey also touched on the programming of her upcoming Oprah Winfrey Network, saying, “It’s also [going to be] fun and entertaining without tearing people down and calling them bitches. Imagine that. Imagine.” Wouldn’t that be nice!? Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and Oakland children’s charity founder Oral Lee Brown were also among the five women honored at the conference. Inspiring speakers included First Lady Michelle Obama, hip hop soul star Mary J. Blige and Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden. What award would you give Oprah?
