OWN continues to build up its programming for 2014.
The once struggling network has ordered four new series—three of which will begin this spring and the fourth, a Tyler Perry production, will begin in the fall.
According to a press release, Perry’s Single Moms Club will follow a group of single mothers who bond and create a support group for each other after an incident at their kids’ school.
If the upcoming one-hour drama sounds familiar, it’s because Perry will release a movie of the same title on March 14th. It stars Nia Long, Amy Smart, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Cocoa Brown, Zulay Henao as well as Perry.
Although Perry acts in the film, he will not appear in the OWN series.
The other three series the network ordered include Lindsay (March 9th), Deion’s Family Playbook (March 1) and Love in the City (April 12th).
Today’s announcement comes as no surprise given Perry’s recent success with OWN. His two shows, The Haves and the Have Nots and Love Thy Neighbor continue to perform well—earning major ratings.
