Entrepreneur and philanthropist Sheila C. Johnson will be honored at the 2012 Parsons Fashion Benefit. Johnson, who is Chair of the Parsons Board of Governors, has been the force behind the creation of the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center, an award winning exhibit which connects Parsons Students with the larger community. Johnson will be honored along with designer, Donna Karan, an alumn of the school who has also been instrumental in the growth of Parsons. Karan, created the Donna Karan Professorship which introduced a new graduate program at the school.
“Sheila and Donna have set an example for our students as women who have risen to the top of their chosen fields and have shaped contemporary culture,” says Parsons Executive Dean Joel Towers. “They also share Parsons’ deep commitment to the future of design.”
Johnson and Karan follow in the footsteps of other industry legends like Reed Krakoff, Marc Jacobs, and Diane von Furstenbert.
