The Meghan Markle slander is getting old. The Duchess of Sussex was recently told to “Go back to America,” because she asked fans for privacy at a 2019 Wimbledon match.
Piers Morgan told the Duchess that if she wanted privacy, she should go back home to America on a recent episode of Good Morning Britain.
“If you go to Wimbledon in your free tickets in the Royal Box, the best seats in the house for nothing, and you take your two bezzies… you’re public people,” Morgan said, according to The Independent. “If you want to be private, go back to America and live privately.”
After Morgan’s remark, his co-host Susanna Reid gives the camera an uncomfortable look.
“They don’t have to go back to America by the way,” Reid responded “She’s married an Englishman!”
Both the Duke and Duchess attended the match “in a private capacity.” Markle and her husband watched the game from the Royal Box in support of her friend Serena Williams, according to reports.
“It’s not a private place,” Morgan said. “If you want to go to a private place, don’t go to the Royal Box at Wimbledon.”
After the Good Morning Britain show, Morgan took his rant to Twitter, adding that “It’s absurd for Ms Markle to demand privacy as she sits in the royal box on a publicly-funded jolly with her mates.”
The Good Morning Britain host has been accused of being hyper-critical of Markle in the past. The uncomfortable scene has led to a lot of backlash for the opinionated host. Some have gone as far to say that he is “obsessed” with Markle.
“He’s unhealthily obsessed about her. It’s off putting and not entertaining at all,” said Twitter user @Defiantmode
Another Twitter user @LindziWest weighed in by tweeting, “He’s bloody obsessed with her!!! Thank God he’s not a newspaper editor anymore or he would do his utmost to bring her down.”
