Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton delivered pointed remarks to a crowd full of Black women of all ages at the 39th Annual Black Women’s Agenda Symposium on Friday morning.
Secretary Clinton began her address by recognizing several influential Black women in politics and community leadership including BWA president Gwen Hess, as well as Congresswomen Sheila Jackson Lee, Gwen Moore, Yvette Clark and Stacey Plaskett.

She also expressed heartfelt appreciation for Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, whom she said was adamant in encouraging her attendance at the symposium, along with iconic activist Marian Wright Edelman, who is a close friend of Clinton’s.
Among the other highlights in Secretary Clinton’s speech were here comments about Black women deserving to be in more positions of leadership and her pledge to implement legislation that will increase access to capital, in an effort to ensure that African-American women continue to represent the fastest growing group of female entrepreneurs in America.
She also spoke on plans to focus on bettering opportunities for underprivileged children, families and women in urban communities through provisions for affordable childcare, equal pay and education initiatives for young women of color, should she be elected President of the United States.
