It’s no secret our forever FLOTUS, Michelle Obama, isn’t a fan Donald Trump.
While the former first lady has always remained respectful of the current White House occupant, she’s let it be known that she isn’t feeling the way Trump governs the country. Back in February, Mrs. Obama said Trump should tweet like a grown up, and she once again commented on his childish ways last week.
During a panel at the the Simmons Leadership Conference in Boston, Mrs. Obama likened Trump’s leadership style to that of a bad parent, while comparing her husband, former President Barack Obama, to a “responsible parent.”
“I think what we see is what happens when we take things for granted,” Mrs. Obama said of the complacency many felt during the Obama years.
“For the eight years Barack was president, it was like having the ‘good parent’ at home. The responsible parent, the one who told you to eat your carrots and go to bed on time,” she said.
“And now we have the other parent,” she continued. “We thought it’d feel fun, maybe it feels fun for now because we can eat candy all day and stay up late, and not follow the rules.”
Mrs. Obama said while the current administration causes her to take a deep sigh, young voters are the key to change.
“I think it’s gonna take young people, the next generation of leaders, to determine what they want to be,” she added. “Voting has to be part of that equation.”
While many are wondering who the Democrats will nominate to take on Trump in 2020, Mrs. Obama once again shot down the rumors that she’ll run for the office.
“I don’t want to be president, I don’t think I should be president. I think I can do a lot of things, but that’s not one of them,” she said. “We have to find women who understand their gifts and know where to put them to use. I know what I’m good at.”
