As you’ve probably already guessed, award-winning
actress Regina King is just as much of a superstar in real life as she is in front of the camera.
The
If Beale Street Could Talk star shined in a blush pink sequinned gown as she graced the Golden Globe Awards red carpet on Sunday evening, but it was the words of praise from her 22-year-old son, Ian, that added a little more sparkle. Gushing over his mom, who is nominated in the Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture category for her phenomenal work in
Beale Street, Ian had only the best to say.
“She’s just a super mom, really,” he told E! News corespondent Ryan Seacrest on the Golden Globes red carpet. “She doesn’t really let bad work days or anything come back and ruin the time that we have, so it’s really awesome to have a mother that…I can enjoy spending time with and all that.”
Adding to her son’s heartfelt words, King told Seacrest that the things she’s learned as “a mother” and “a Black woman in America that was once a Black girl in America” all play a part in what she brings to the screen as an actress.
The pair also spoke on their support of the Times Up! movement and the importance of equality among men and women.
“Time’s up. Just for women having equality and safety in the workplace, and all individuals,” Ian added. “So, that’s really important to me, especially having a powerful woman…they rule the world.”
King was also nominated for her Best Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture for TV for her starring role in the 2018 Netflix drama,
Seven Seconds.
