President and First Lady Obama will spend time with families of victims of the Washington Navy Yard shooting on Sunday and attend a memorial at the Marine Barracks Washington, reports the White House.
The Obamas will appear at the memorial where President Obama is scheduled to make remarks. Aides to the president have not offered any details on themes or messages that Obama may deliver during the memorial. He spoke first in the hours after the Navy Yard tragedy when he lamented that the nation was having to confront “yet another mass shooting.”
The Navy Yard shooting resulted in the 12 deaths and eight injuries and shook the entire nation. It was the single worst loss of life in the District since an airliner plunged into the Potomac River in 1982, killing 78. The suspected shooter, identified by the FBI as Aaron Alexis, 34, living in Fort Worth, is among the dead.
