President Barack Obama will host a White House event Thursday to unveil his new “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative.
The new program, introduced in his State of the Union address, pledges to enlist foundations, businesses and leaders to make sure that every young man of color that is willing to work hard and lift himself up has an opportunity to do so.
“I’m reaching out to some of America’s leading foundations and corporations on a new initiative to help more young men of color facing tough odds stay on track and reach their full potential,” said the President.
Mr. Obama plans to keep true on his promise to make 2014 a year of action by inviting foundation leaders, corporate executives and community leaders to Thursday’s event in an effort to get as much support as possible.
The event will be open to the press and will be streamed live on whitehouse.gov/live at 3:25 PM EST.
