The relationship between President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama has been one of the most endearing aspects of the 44th President’s eight years in office.
Their inspiring union came full circle on Tuesday night when Obama took time in his farewell speech to the nation to not only share his appreciation for her support and companionship, but also, show his love.

“Michelle, for the past 25 years, you’ve been not only my wife and mother of my children, but my best friend,” he started, before having to eventually wipe a tear. “You took on a role you didn’t ask for and made it your own with grace and grit and style and good humor… You’ve made me proud. You’ve made the country proud.”
Though Michelle was able to hold it together, their daughter Malia –seated right next to her mother–struggled to keep her tears at bay. We can relate!
The touching moment further extended towards Malia and (a missing) Sasha, whom the proud father also praised for wearing “the burden of years in the spotlight so easily.”
“Of all that I’ve done in my life, I’m most proud to be your dad.”
These two moments, paired with the President’s kind words for his VP Joe Biden were by far the most touching and heartfelt moments of his speech.
A moment in time the nation will truly remember forever.
