“My New Year’s Resolution is to move forward on our unfinished business as much as I can and I’ll be more frequently asking for your help,” he said. “That’s especially true for one piece of unfinished business: our epidemic of gun violence.”
Obama and Lynch will sit down on Monday following his return from his family’s annual holiday vacation in Hawaii.
The President added that he far too often receives “letters from responsible gun owners” who share his belief in “keeping [the] irresponsible, dangerous few from inflicting harm on a massive scale.”
Mass shooting tragedies all across the nation in 2015 including in Charleston, SC, San Bernadino, CA, Colorado Springs, CO and Roseburg, OR, made the year one of the most deadliest.
“Change, as always, is going to take all of us,” he stated. “The gun lobby is loud and well organized in its defense of effortlessly available guns for anyone. The rest of us are going to have to be just as passionate and well organized in our defense of our kids. That’s the work of citizenship — to stand up and fight for the change that we seek.”
