Although President Obama is one of few notable figures who have not responded to Donald Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims entering the U.S., he sent a message to Syrian refugees via a Facebook comment on Wednesday.
Obama left the comment at the end of post on the Humans of New York page, which featured a nameless refugee who is recently learned that he is being relocated to Michigan.
President Obama Visits with Refugees in the Midst of Political Debate
“As a husband and a father, I cannot even begin to imagine the loss you’ve endured,” Obama said. “You and your family are an inspiration. You’re part of what makes America great.”
While his comments did not directly acknowledge Trump’s recent controversial release, welcoming and describing refugees as a “part of what makes America great,” is in stark contrast to Trump’s beliefs.
