Prince released more than enough music to last a lifetime before his untimely passing, but it looks like even more might be on the way sooner than later.
Shortly after the iconic entertainer’s death just last week, documents signed by his sister Tyka Nelson stated that The Purple One did not leave a will or any instruction as who would be entitled to his fortune in event of his passing. According to ABC News, Prince’s estate is now being temporarily managed by the Minnestoa-based Bremer Trust company and they recently stumbled upon a pot of musical gold when they opened a private vault located in Prince’s home that only he had access to previously.
The vault, which Prince spoke candidly about in a 2012 interview with The View, reportedly contained a large collection of unreleased material. “One day, someone will release them. I don’t know that I’ll get to release them,” he said of his secret stash of songs. Prince’s former recording engineer Susan Roger elaborated further on the collection during a recent visit to Good Morning America, adding that the amount of music found in the vault is enough to “put out more work in a month than most people could in a year.”
No further details on plans to release the music have been revealed just yet, but we’re most certainly looking forward to that news if and when it does come.
