1. Swizz Beatz is officially a Harvard grad. The mega producer graduated Thursday and shared the news on Instagram with a poignant post, “Today I will become Harvard alumni and although I’m not getting an “MBA” no one can EVER take this accomplishment away from me. I was suppose to be gone a long time ago according to some of my old teachers 🙂 This one is for you! Blessings! Never shoot people’s dreams down because you don’t have your own!!!!” (Instagram)
2. Lebron James’ daughter, Zhuri, is ready to follow in her dad’s footsteps. James captured his daughter showing off her basketball skills and shared the video to Instagram Stories. (Twitter)
3. Meek Mill is reportedly being held in solitary confinement. The rapper’s attorney claims he’s a victim of his celebrity and that prison officials are worried about him interacting with other inmates. (TMZ)
4. The first trailer for Lena Waithe’s The Chi is here and it is incredible. The Emmy winner’s new series is a coming-of-age story that follows a group of residents in the South Side of Chicago. (YouTube)
5. Shonda Rhimes was honored at the Television Academy Hall of Fame this week and received a tribute from one of media’s greatest icons, Oprah Winfrey. Winfrey dubbed Rhimes the “most powerful show runner in television, period.” (Variety)
6. Remember Franklin from ABC’s My Wife and Kids? Well, time flew by and now one of TV’s most adorable kids is 22 and living his best life. (MadameNoire)
7. Police were locked in a standoff after an emotionally disturbed man barricaded himself inside an apartment building in Milford, Conn. Unfortunately, the man was found dead after police were eventually able to get inside the building. (WTNH)
