Quvenzhané Wallis continues her road to the Oscars with a quick pit stop at the White House with First Lady Michelle Obama.
The Black Women in Hollywood honoree and Critics Choice Award winner will join the First Lady for a special workshop for middle and high school students on Wednesday in the State Dining Room about her film Beasts of the Southern Wild.
The President’s Committee on Arts and Humanities Executive Director, Rachel Goslins, will moderate a discussion about the film, its production and numerous uplifting themes that can be applied to the students’ own lives. Wallis, who at 9 years old is the youngest actress ever to be nominated for the Best Actress Oscar, is expected to discuss her experience and answer questions from the students, who will be visiting the White House from the Washington, D.C., and New Orleans areas.
