Here’s what we’re talking about this morning:
Raven-Symone opened up about her sexuality during an appearance on Oprah’s Where Are They Now last night. After seemingly addressing her sexuality in a tweet last year, the former child star says she doesn’t the term gay used to describe her. “I don’t want to be labeled ‘gay,’ she said. “But I will say that I’m in … an amazing, happy relationship with my partner, a woman. On the other side, my mother and people in my family, they’ve taught me to keep my personal life to myself as much as possible.” Symone also said she didn’t want to be labeled as African-American. “I’m an American. I’m not an African American; I’m an American,” she said. Even after Oprah made it clear what reactions her statements would get from viewers, Symone didn’t change her statement. “I mean, I don’t know where my roots go to… I don’t know how far back they go…I don’t know what country in Africa I’m from, but I do know that my roots are in Louisiana. I’m an American. And that’s a colorless person.” [OWN TV]
