READER QUESTION: “I’m trying to narrow down my list of products to stock up on for the new year. What are some of your favorite hair products of 2011? ” –Alesha
CURLYNIKKI’S RESPONSE:
Here are my all-time favorite products that I discovered in 2011:
1. Elucence Shampoo
This shampoo is gentle yet effective, with a soft fragrance and mild sudsing. It washes away the gunk of the week without stripping my strands of their much-needed natural oils. Elucence Moisture Benefits Shampoo can be used by strict Curly Girls (no silicones, no mineral oil) or even Bad Girls (bring.it.on.) like me! One of the best poos on the market!
2. Lacio Leave-in Conditioner
This is an absolutely fantabulous leave-in for wet styling such as roller sets and braid or twist-outs. It has tons of slip which allows for easy detangling and packs a serious moisture punch with a touch of much needed silk protein for strength and softness. It’s never greasy and leaves the hair light and fluffy. I also use it on dry hair for elongated twist-outs.
3. Dax Hair Pomade (Green Grease)
Oh dear. Yes, Dax. The surprise of 2011. I somehow found my way back into the loving arms of old school grease. I use it on thoroughly conditioned hair to lock in moisture for days on end. The shine it yields is sick and my twist-outs have never been so defined. Remember, a little goes a very long way. It’s grease, so obviously, your situation can get greasy real quick if you go ham.
4. My Honey Child Olive You Deep Conditioner
One of the best deep conditioners in all the land. Rain in a jar, whether I use it on dry or wet hair, I’m left wonderfully moisturized, soft and detangled. It’s seriously a miracle product. Thank you sweet baby Jesus for Krika of MyHoneyChild!
5. Aussie Moist Conditioner
By the beard of Zeus, I swear this is one of the best cheapy conditioners money can buy. I use it primarily as a detangler in the shower and it melts away tangles and instantly moisturizes and softens. After shampoo’ing and thoroughly saturating my hair with water, I load up with Aussie and let it marinate while I go about my shower rituals. I then use the shower stream to aid in the detangling process and I swear I barely have to use my fingers… I don’t even reach for the comb! Melts the tangles like butter!
