By now the drama on “Real Housewives of D.C.” has reached a fever pitch. We’ve found out that Michaele Salahi wasn’t really a Redskins cheerleader and tough-talking Cat might actually be a softie. As the season draws to an end, D.C. socialite Stacie Turner is still trying to find her birth father, and worries that her comments about gay marriage were misinterpreted. Turner spoke to ESSENCE.com about why her search leads to the Nigerian Embassy, and what we can look forward to on tonight’s juicy episode… ESSENCE.com: Last week you were worried about how your comments about gay marriage would come off. Were you relieved with how you were portrayed on the episode? STACIE TURNER: I actually was surprised by the overwhelmingly negative reaction around it because Jason and I opted to reveal to the world the conflict that we have between our religious beliefs and our beliefs in human equality. The reality is we should be able to have an open conversation about this and we are open to being educated about the issue. And, in fact, what wasn’t shown on the show is that we decided to support Paul and attend the celebration ceremony for the passage of the Marriage Equality show. I wish that full circle could have been shown. ESSENCE.com: Everyone came over for ice cream social and there we saw that Cat might actually be a softie… TURNER:[laughs] It was just interesting to me that Cat, who is very outspoken towards any situation, just all of a sudden crumbled when somebody else [Pat] started dishing out the same thing that she typically dishes out. ESSENCE.com: And Michaele lied about being a Redskinette… TURNER: Can you believe she would fake being a Redskinette? And to think that you wouldn’t get found out? From what I would imagine the Redskinettes are similar to a sorority. I thought it was hilarious. ESSENCE.com: What can we look forward to on tonight’s episode? TURNER: Well, Linda provides the models for a big fashion show for Burkina Faso. Also, I have a pretty interesting moment where my birth father search sends me in a different direction and I go to the Nigerian Embassy and meet a woman named Stella who commits to helping me find my birth father. ESSENCE.com: So next week is your season finale. What can we look forward to? TURNER: Well, next week we get to see what really happened during the infamous White House State Dinner when the Salahis either crashed or invaded and somehow showed up at the White House without anyone expecting it. I’m looking forward to seeing that episode too. ESSENCE.com: The new season of ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta” premieres next week as well. Will you be watching? TURNER: Absolutely! I get the feeling this season is going to be really spicy. I think all of the ladies in Atlanta are very vibrant and I can’t wait to learn more about the two new ladies. Catch “Real Housewives of D.C.” on Bravo, tonight at 10pm.
