“Keke has very soft-textured hair, so that really made it easy to transform her into Chilli,” says Terry. “I used Hair Factory extensions with a loose, wavy texture just like Chili has. As for the styles for Chili, it was simple to style her hair for the film because it was either half-up/half-down, or just down and curly.”
“When creating the T-Boz character, I did not want to give her a full wig so I shaved Drew’s hair to make the styles look more realistic,” reveals Terry. “I slightly texturized her hair just so it would lay down because she’s completely natural. There was a lot of dancing for the film so we needed to make sure that it would lay smooth if she started to sweat. We braided the top portion of her hair and I had a stock of lace wigs that I colored blonde or red myself.”
“Thankfully Lil’ Mama’s hair is the same length as Left Eye’s hair,” says Terry. “Lil’Mama was blonde before we started shooting, so I colored her hair to a medium brown, cut her bangs and just shaped up her hair to exactly how Left Eye’s hair was. For some of the more creative styles, I actually would go to Michael’s Craft Store and get Styrofoam and wire pieces to sculpt and create those crazy looks.”
