Five years have gone by since the passing of music legend Michael Jackson.
The world was left devastated on June 25, 2009 after the King of Pop was found dead at the age of 50 from cardiac arrest. Dr. Conrad Murray was later charged and convicted of involuntary manslaughter. The conviction came at the end of a six-week public trial that heard testimony from 49 witnesses, including many medical experts, who agree Murray was responsible for Jackson’s propofol death.
Days after his death, a star-studded public memorial service for the music mogul was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
The pop sensation is survived by three children, Prince Michael Jackson II, Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, and Michael Joseph Jackson Jr.
Jackson’s then-11-year-old daughter Paris remembered how fond she was of her father during the funeral eulogy. “Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine,” Paris told the crowd.
The children’s grandmother Katherine Jackson and cousin TJ Jackson currently hold joint custody over them.
