Lupita Nyong’o’s influence can be felt worldwide, especially in her Kenyan hometown.
According to The Nairobian, a private school has been renamed in honor of the Academy Award winner in Dandora, a suburb of Nairobi, Kenya.
Eagles Safe Hands Education Centre will become Lupita Bright Stars Educational Centre.
Although it is usually an honor that comes much later in a public figures career, the school’s founder Alice Anyasi Shiangala said that renaming the school was the only way that she could celebrate the star.
“I decided to rename my school after watching Lupita’s father, Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, being interviewed by Jeff Koinange on KTN. I was touched by her story. She is true star who deserves better recognition. She has brought fame to our country,” said Shiangala.
Shiangala is currently working on the legal process to have the name of the school officially changed.
