It looks like Rihanna may be headed to the silver screen. The fiery redhead is reportedly in talks to replace Whitney Houston in a remake of the 1992 smash hit, “The Bodyguard”, Deadline.com reports.
Hollywood producers are allegedly looking for a more modern take on the classic film where Houston’s character will be stalked by an obsessive fan via Twitter, Google Maps, and TMZ. While the original love story is still in place, the remake will include an Iraqi war veteran as the bodyguard.
“The goal is to take a young female singer with global appeal and give her the platform that The Bodyguard did Houston,” Deadline.com reports. If given Houston’s role, Rihanna will have some big shoes to fill – the film grossed $250 million in theaters worldwide and the Barbadian beauty will have to belt out Houston’s classic, “I Will Always Love You.” The studio is in the process of landing a male lead for the role.
