Russell Simmons isn’t here for his old friend Donald Trump’s antics and he penned an open letter on Global Grind to explain why.
Simmons hoped to appeal to the Presidential candidate by remarking that their 30-plus-year friendship has been fruitful but vehemently calls for Trump to end his blatantly bigoted crusude in pursuit of the White House.
What a Donald Trump Presidency Would Mean for Black Women
“It kinda pains me to know that my public statements about your candidacy have strained or ruined our friendship,” he begins. “My friends, both Muslims and Jews, are saying there are so many comparisons between your rap and Hitler’s, and I cannot disagree with them, Donald.”
The hip-hop mogul, who is active in all the communities Trump labels as problematic, wasn’t at all shy about calling him out and telling him to stand down.
Donald Trump Sits Down with Black Clergy for ‘Constructive’ Meeting
“You’re smarter and certainly more loving then you let on. The Republicans in power don’t like you any more than the Democrats in power, as they know you can’t be controlled, because you are your own man. You have been many people’s champ in the past, but now you are becoming a major embarrassment.”
Russell does have a point and we sure hope Donald takes this into consideation for the sake of our own peace of mind.
