David Madden, FOX entertainment President said that the series comes at the right time to create a cultural conversation among viewers.
“Gina and Reggie have crafted a profoundly moving portrayal of a timely and sensitive issue that pervades our culture at this very moment,” he said.
“This is not only an important story to tell, but also an explosive mystery-thriller, and we couldn’t be in better hands both with the creative team behind this, along with the very talented Sanaa Lathan leading the cast.”
Lathan stars as the show’s lead who looks into the cases while navigating media attention, public discourse, and community outrage in the quest for justice. She will be partnered with a special prosector from the Justice Department to uncover the truth about the incident.
Prince-Bythewood developed the project alongside her husband, Reggie Rock Bythewood.
No official air-date has been released but the series is expected to air in the fall 2016-17 schedule.
