Sandra Bland’s mother says that the justice system has once again shamed the legacy of her late daughter.
In a press conference on Monday, Geneva Reed-Veal revealed that she is still disappointed in the law, NPR reports.
Grand Jury Declines to Indict Officers Involved in Sandra Bland’s Death
“I simply can’t have faith in a system that’s not inclusive of my family,” she said. “We’re supposed to have an investigation to show us what’s happening. We know what we’ve been listening to in the media…but we don’t have any real evidence.”
A grand jury in Texas ruled not to indict anyone involved in the arrest and death of Bland yesterday.
Bland was arrested in Waller Country, Texas in June during a traffic stop where she was arrested and taken to country jail. She was found dead in her cell three days later.
“Right now the biggest problem I have is the entire process,” Reed-Veal added. “It’s the secrecy of it all.”
